On February 19th and 20th, 2024, a community engagement event was successfully held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) under the supervision of Dr. Ummu Ajirah Abdul Rauf, a senior lecturer from the UKM-Graduate School of Business (UKM-GSB) with significant support from ZHONGJI CONSTRUCTION SDN BHD. The event took place at the UKM-GSB and Pusanika, as well as at DuoLer Daycare Centre, Kuala Lumpur, and aimed to promote Chinese culture and diverse cultural exchanges, fostering children’s awareness of diversity and understanding of Chinese culture.
Dr. Ummu Ajirah Abdul Rauf emphasized the importance of children recognizing and understanding diverse cultures. “Our goal is to deepen children’s understanding of multiculturalism, provide opportunities for cultural exchanges, and promote unity among ethnic groups,” she said.
Led by Wang Sibing, the event aimed to reach a broader audience and spread knowledge of diversity among children. “We are committed to providing more children with distinctive activities of Chinese culture, promoting opportunities for cultural exchanges, and helping children understand the importance of diversity through this event,” she said.
Mr. Yan Bin, a leader at ZHONGJI CONSTRUCTION SDN. BHD. emphasized the importance of introducing children to Chinese culture and promoting diverse cultural exchanges. “Participating in this event is a matter of great pride for us. We are eager to impart traditional Chinese culture and knowledge to children, which is crucial for promoting diverse economic exchanges in the future,” he said.
The event featured a variety of engaging and cultural activities, with nearly one hundred participants. It is part of a series of successful events held in various locations around Kuala Lumpur. As a globally renowned university, UKM provided a larger platform and wider impact for this event.
The funds raised from the event will be donated to local kindergartens and childcare centres, specifically at DuoLer Daycare Centre, reflecting UKM’s commitment to community service and ongoing participation.
Looking ahead, Wang Sibing expressed satisfaction with the team’s collective efforts. “By organizing such events, our goal is to inspire societal forces, enable children to understand the importance of multiculturalism, and contribute to unity and social stability among various ethnic groups in the future,” she concluded.
